My heart-felt and honest facebook post has not helped me at all.
Here’s what I said:

Hey guys. As I have mentioned I have my show coming up this Saturday. So far, I have one person who’s going to buy a ticket. I know I’m just doing a DJ set and that “doesn’t require any real talent” and many people might not like dubstep and such, but this is a big deal for me. I’ve put in a lot of time and effort, and this is my first Mythosaur show. If you don’t like dubstep, my friends in The Ranks will be playing and they’re a wonderful indie/pop-rock band. There also will be a hardcore/metal kinda band amongst others.

The tickets are $8, but if that’s too much for you, let’s talk and work something out. Same thing if you don’t have a ride; we can figure something out. I’m just tired of either not performing, performing for 3 people, or a crowd with none of my friends in it. Music is important to me, and I want to share it with people I know. I try not to bombard you with promotion; I don’t blast out event invitations every week like some bands, but I would like support sometimes. This show is going to be a lot of fun I think, so just let me know if you’d like to come.

Idk, I guess I foolishly thought some of my friends would read this and say, “you know, I haven’t really supported you and your music in the past Josh, I’m sorry, and I’d love to come to the show.”

How so very foolish of me.

Building a local music scene is important.

sleep0nthefloor:

I am from Akron, Ohio (birthplace of The Black Keys) and the local music scene here is beyond supportive. I think it’s so important that everyone works together like a team because we kind of are a team, working for the same end goal. If you are in the area go to shows, donate to Kickstarters, spread the word about local musicians that you like. Even if you aren’t in the area, find a way to do that in your hometown. I just want to express how grateful I am to have a team of great people behind me, and how happy I am to be behind them. TUMBLR FOLLOWERS, if you haven’t heard my music please listen. It’s something I really care about. The only reason I follow people is to get to know what they are about. I’m showing you right now what I am about, go here and listen to my EP:

I wrote this EP after meeting a really toxic human being. My objective was to create something positive out of something negative instead of letting my problem consume me. I feel like I succeeded and this is something I am proud of.

PLEASE reblog this if you care about my music in the slightest, or if you care about helping out independent artists. I just want people to listen!

Influences: Regina Spektor, Cat Power, Feist, Emily Haines
