Gossip - Vertical Rhythm

Gossip (formerly called The Gossip) is a trio indie band formed in the late 90’s/early 2000’s that still manages to produce music and captivate listeners from the U.S. and mainstream radio in the UK. As distinct as their sound is, it freely evolves from one album to the next, and is probably best described from the band’s personal bio: “A blend of soul, gospel, rock, funk, disco, punk, passion and rebellion.”

I give a lot of credit to Gossip, especially for their enthusiasm to create good music even though it doesn’t fit into any certain musical category. Lead singer Beth Ditto is a funky, glamorous, and almost “exotic” woman who has the voice of a soul singer yet still manages to present her own intense style and personality to all who encounter her. Ditto and female drummer Hannah Blilie, both openly self-proclaimed lesbians, have brought positive influence to the underground music & LGBTQ communities; and guitarist Nathan “Brace Paine” Howdeshell is a strong advocate for Do-It-Yourself lifestyle, along with the importance of spiritual self-awareness. Not only are these three fantastic musicians also fantastic people, they each hold something important to stand for in the world, which is highly admirable.

At the beginning of their journey, the band was part of the Riot Grrrl Movement scene. As they’ve developed their own individual stance in the music world, Gossip continues to relate to their fans and audiences in a unique, vibrant, and compelling manner.  -Lindsey

for those of you into hip-hop/rap, here is my friend Manny’s new song. (he’s the black one in case you’re wondering.

note: the caption on the video says, “Yes, it’s meant to be corny.” so I don’t believe they’re promoting girls dancing all over boys and partying and craziness and stuff. it’s just silly. regardless, y’all know i’m not a crazy partier like that. anyways it’s some good rap.

artemiscornwallace:

My dad explained to me the difference between soda and pop and why we have those two terms. When he was 12 or 13 he and his friends would go to the drug store to get soda. In those days (I’m talking late 50’s, early 60’s) soda was offered in the glass bottles or in cans. If they wanted a soda in a glass bottle they’d just ask for soda, but if they wanted it in a can, they’d ask for pop. Why? Because of the pop top, of course! Not only that but soda stored in a bottle is mixed differently than soda stored in a can. Each is made specifically for its housing vessel. So there is a difference between soda and pop.

Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe (Coyote Kisses Remix)

This should not exist, but it does, and it’s not bad in the least.

Coyote Kisses never disappoint.
